Book of Esther
"Just say, No" is a familiar slogan. Saying, No, can save one's life and reputation. Why don't more people do it? It's simple to say; and most can. We wonder whether modifying "say" with the adverb "just," leaves the impression that one's saying, No, is all there is to it. Typically it's not. Saying, No, has consequences; as both Vashti and Mordecai learned. Yes: No is a great word simply said, and often with profound consequences. Virtuous people treasure the word, and use it for its own merits.
